TotalWellness Founder and President Alan Kohll talked with Employee Benefit News about how companies can help prevent wellness program data theft. He said recent data breaches have raised employer concerns about the safety of wellness program data, and some companies have asked vendors to assume liability should private employee health information be leaked.
For example, at TotalWellness, any computers holding personal health information are never connected to the Internet to prevent external attacks, and data is limited to basic essentials and excludes Social Security numbers or birth dates that hackers look to steal.
